The BBC is calling on Sport for Development Coalition members to nominate their 'Unsung Hero' for the 2022 Sports Personality of the Year Awards in December.

The annual award seeks out volunteers who have made a lasting impact on their community through sport and physical activity. The Coalition has supported the award for the last four years, and its members are being encouraged to make their nominations before the deadline of October 30th, and help raise awareness of the sport for development sector.

It’s quick and easy to enter, and entering could secure coverage on local and national BBC TV and radio, and online. The winner will be announced live on air during the awards ceremony in December.

Previous winners have taken the platform and grown their networks to help more people locally, made appearances in national media, joined Olympic legacy boards, worked closely with Government mental health initiatives, and consulted on Home Office projects to help young people at risk.

Nominate the volunteers making your community better through sport on Unsung Hero or Arwr Tawel  - or by email to [email protected]

You can also download the entry form in English or Welsh and send it to us. Email entries must be a form attached to the email, not just email text.

All entries must be received before 23:59 BST on Sunday 30th October 2022.

How do I nominate?

It's easy: tell BBC Sport - either by writing or on film - why your nominee deserves to be the 2022 BBC Sports Personality of the Year Unsung Hero.

The nominee must be 16 or older, and to nominate you must be over 18, or have consent from someone relevant over 18.
