Schools, families and communities are being encouraged to sign up and support National School Sport Week 2021 between June 19 and 25.
The week of activity, co-ordinated by Coalition partner Youth Sport Trust, will celebrate the return of youth sport following the lockdown earlier this year, and underscore its power to bring people back together with a week of school sports days being held up and down the country.
The theme of this year’s campaign is ‘Together Again’, and schools and communities are encouraged to sign up and share their commitment to organising, or support the organisation of a sports day during the week.
Register as a school or organisation
Everyone who signs up will receive free resources from the Youth Sport Trust, including the ultimate guide to staging an inclusive sports day, top tips on harnessing the power of sport to bring young people together and advice on how to give young people a voice in organising their sports days.
Youth Sport Trust started the annual National School Sport Week campaign in 2008 and it has run every year since. Last year, because of the pandemic, the campaign was repositioned as National School Sport Week at Home and, with many young people not in school, families were invited to take part at home for the first time. With the help of Sky Sports it reached two million people; you can read more about the 2020 campaign here.
National School Sport Week is run is association with European School Sports Day, which this year will take place on 24 September.
