Coalition supporters are being invited to complete an annual survey which will inform the network’s collective action during an important year ahead.

The survey only takes 10-15 minutes to complete and will enable the Coalition team to gather important information about supporter organisations and project delivery. This includes geographical spread, the #OpenGoal outcomes they generate, the challenges and barriers they face both as individual organisations and collectively, and their priorities for 2024 and beyond.

Please note the survey closes on December 22nd.

  • If you are a registered supporter of the Coalition, please complete the survey by clicking on this link.
  • If your organisation is using sport for development across the UK and it would like to join the Coalition, please read the Charter and sign up. Then complete the survey by clicking on this link.

Amy Caterson, Head of Impact & Engagement for the Coalition, commented: “This survey is the first step in the Coalition’s new impact and advocacy plan and strategy, which in early 2024 will also see the launch of a dynamic new online Impact Portal that will segment, share and signpost evidence and learning around #OpenGoal outcomes by Coalition supporters across the network.

“This will build connectivity between members of the network, set the scene for more effective impact measurement, and crucially build greater appreciation and understanding of the contribution of sport for development to policy priorities, thus helping to facilitate an enabling environment for greater investment in the sector.”

2024 promises to be a critical 12 months for the sector with a General Election, Olympics and Paralympics set to go ahead, and the United Nations recently warning that the world was only 15% towards achieving its global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at their halfway stage.

In a collective bid to galvanise action across the UK, over the last two years Coalition supporters have come together to co-design the #OpenGoal Shared Advocacy Framework which outlines the collective ESG (environmental, social and governance) work of the UK’s sport and physical activity sector, and promotes its contribution to key policy areas for Government, for example around health, employability and crime. At the same time, it seeks to articulate and advocate for the UK’s role in global sport for development.

Findings from the survey will be included in the second #OpenGoal annual report which will be published in the build-up to the UN’s annual International Day of Sport for Development & Peace on 6th April. Read the 2022-23 annual report here. Coalition supporters will use the day to celebrate their work and demonstrate their contribution to the policy priorities outlined by #OpenGoal.
